Land ho! Storm no...

We are just just a few hours away from land! Not the land you might be expecting, though...

In my last status update, I said we were heading to Guadalupe. Since then, tropical storm Bret formed out in the Atlantic, and the forecast was for it to become a hurricane and make landfall in Martinique, which is south of Guadeloupe.

After a quick analysis of wind forecasts and the projected path of the storm, we decided to skip all of the islands and go straight to Grenada. This was early Monday morning, around 3am.

We have had really good winds and mixed seas, giving us pretty good speed, and allowing us to arrive today, Tuesday afternoon, well ahead of the storms, and well south of the storms.

We always make the best decisions we can based on the data we have available. When that data changes, we have to be willing to update our plans and make new decisions. Such is sailing.
