New lens
Last night, I decided to get out a new lens that I bought a while back but haven't really used. Mostly, I got it with the idea of using it for astrophotography, but I gave it a try during sunset so that I could see what I'm going with the camera and lens settings.
It's a 50mm prime lens, with manual aperture and focus. It's really low-tech compared to the high end lenses that have electronically controlled F-stop, auto-focus, and image stabilization.
So why use it? It has a focus range from 1.6ft (0.5m) out to infinity, and an F-stop range from F16 down to F0.95! And the price was quite reasonable.
It's the Zhong Yi Speedmaster 0.95/50mm III lens (not sponsored).
To start with, I took a picture of some of the cute critters around the boat.
I still need to crop and scale the sunset images and star images, so I'll upload those in another blog post.
