Walkabout in the DR

Walkabout in the DR

Yesterday was the last full day with our crew, so we hired a taxi to take us around the local area.

We got to pick some nearly-ripe mango off a tree near the road, sample some great local food, check out some lovely historic locations (including an amber and Larimar mine museum).

We got to spend a fair bit of time walking around an old fort near the ocean, watching a ship arrive in port and observe a dredging operation.

This was a great way to spend the remaining time with our new friends. We hope to have them on board again in the not too distant future!

The coming week should be equally full of adventure: a bird watching tour, some wing surfing lessons, and, of course, provisioning and boat projects.
