A little excitement!

A little excitement!
A water spout forming offshore near Great Exuma Island

We have arrived at Georgetown. It was a long day of motoring, with a little assistance from the head sail in light winds. Generally, it was quite boring, until...

As we passed the north end of Great Exuma Island, we could see dense clouds and rain. And a water spout.

A water spout is basically a tornado over water. I think they are weaker than tornadoes that form over land, but I'm still glad we didn't have to cross paths with this one.

This one lasted maybe 60 minutes, and it's the 3rd or 4th one that has been reported in this part of the Bahamas in the past week.

The early phase of life for the water spout

It's impressive to see, and I hope never to get closer to one, thank you very much.
