When in St Martin...
We are properly here in St Martin (SXM) now. After dropping the hook yesterday at noon, taking a nap, going to a local chandlery to check in, taking another nap, eating dinner, vegging out, then sleeping not quite enough, we were ready to head to shore and start to experience the island.
We were in the touristy part of the island, so naturally we did the silly tourist thing at the sign.
Then we went to a French bakery to have breakfast - so good!
This afternoon, we are going to dinghy over to the Dutch side of Simpson Bay to meet with friends for a late lunch.
I also anticipate some more napping today as we continue to catch up on sleep from our overnight passage. Tomorrow we should be able to start exploring more seriously. There is a fort-like thing on top of a small hill that is begging to be explored, and I think we will rent a car to drive around a bit.
